Salsa 101 Cycle Flexibility: Missed Classes and Alternatives

We understand that Mondays might not work for everyone's schedule.

Our Salsa 101 Cycle is structured as a progressive monthly workshop, so attending each class is important to ensure you get the most out of the experience. If you happen to miss a class, we recommend catching up the following week, as we don't offer makeup classes.

However, if you anticipate difficulties committing to Monday classes, we have a great alternative for you.

Join us for our open classes on the weekends instead! These classes are designed to be more flexible and are suitable for all levels of dancers. They provide an excellent opportunity to work on your salsa skills without the constraints of a fixed Monday schedule.

Salsa Class Attire: What to Wear and Why Dance Shoes Matter

In salsa class, movement is key, so wearing attire that allows you to move freely is essential. We recommend activewear or any comfortable clothing that allows for easy mobility. While heels are optional, we do encourage the use of dance shoes, such as jazz shoes or practice shoes, especially as you progress in your salsa journey. These specialized dance shoes can enhance your confidence on the dance floor and help you pivot and glide with ease.

Salsa Classes in NYC: Partner or No Partner, You're Welcome!

"You do not need to bring a partner for salsa class! Our instructors will ensure that you have the opportunity to dance with everyone by rotating partners throughout the class. They will also be there to dance with you and provide guidance during the class.

Whether you bring a partner or not, it's all good! What matters most is that you join us for salsa class and have a fantastic time on the dance floor. So, come solo or with a friend, and let's have some fun dancing!

Choosing the Right Footwear for Salsa Classes in NYC

"You don’t need to have dance shoes for your first class. When you join us, wear shoes that feel comfortable to you! Many of our students opt for sneakers or casual shoes, as they provide comfort and flexibility for your first salsa experience. It's preferable to choose shoes with a smoother bottom, which can help with pivoting and sliding on the dance floor.

As you progress in your salsa journey, you may consider switching to specialized salsa or ballroom dance shoes for an enhanced dance experience. However, for your initial classes, the most important thing is comfort and a smooth sole."
